JUAN BOWL & TEA
Our story

Anna Ishiguro · Owner-chef
Owner-chef Anna Ishiguro opened JUAN in Sydney on 11 October 2017. Drawing from her experience as a designer, she offers beautifully crafted rice bowls that blend traditional flavours with a modern, cross-cultural touch.
Before opening JUAN, Anna spent three years in hotel and restaurant kitchens in Japan, followed by four years in Sydney working across cafés, bars, catering and sushi counters as a sous chef and head chef.
Our philosophy
The original concept for the Sydney location was to create a stylish rice bowl restaurant that you would find in Omotesando. We offer tea pairings tailored to each bowl. With customer satisfaction and smiles as our top priority, JUAN aims to deliver consistent quality and exceptional service.
Quality begins with carefully selected ingredients: Japanese ingredients, premium pork, wagyu beef and local vegetables. Traditional flavours and the experience of a designer come together in the presentation of each bowl.
The meaning of JUAN
寿 (ju) carries wishes for blessings, happiness and longevity; 庵 (an) is a small dwelling. Together, JUAN is a house of longevity and happiness.
